		<Abstract>Intellectuality and politics have a very close and historical linkage with each other. This article beside the redefinition of Intellectuality concept, want to study relationship between these two concept through the six periods of west civilization history: 1) Greek-Roman period until 5th century, 2) first period of christianity from 5th to 11th centuries, 3) second period of christianity from 11th to 16th centuries,
4) from sunshine of nation-states to the end of eighteenth century, 5) from nineteeth century to the end of the first world war, 6) twenieth century and intellectual movements.
At the end of this ariticle the role of intellectuality and it’s relationship with politics divides to three kind through the west civilization history: 1) critique of political system, 2) participation in political life, and 3) withdrawal from politics.</Abstract>
