Peer Review Process

The process of accepting articles

How to submit an article: It is only possible to submit an article via the online system.

User registration: To submit an article, you must first register with the system. The corresponding option can be found in the menu at the top of the page.

Each publication in the electronic publication system of the University of Tehran has its own password and ID.

To use each publication, register separately in the system and create a folder.

User ID and password: User ID and password are required to submit the article, so be careful when saving the email sent to the system. The User ID is the author's email address. If you have forgotten your password, select the "Log in to the system" option at the top of the page and click on the "I have forgotten my password to log in to the system!

To upload an item to the system: Click on the 'Submit Article' option at the top of the page. The article should be uploaded as an original file containing all the different parts of the article (abstract, introduction, method, results and discussion, suggestions, conclusion, conflict of interest statement, sources used and extended English abstract). Please note that figures and tables must be included in the text of the article. Wherever a figure or table is mentioned in the text of the article, the corresponding figure or table should be inserted immediately after the end of the paragraph. In the Farsi and English abstracts, the name of the original file, the specifications and the names of the authors should not be included. Don't include the Acknowledgements section in the first review.

Before uploading the file, be careful:

  • Upload exactly one file of the type "main text of the article". Note that the article file should be attached without the authors' names and addresses.
  • Please upload only files with English names.
  • Files of the type "Supplementary/Additional file" will not be shown to the judges. Scanned documents and receipts should be uploaded as supplementary/additional files.

Very important points (regarding the importance of selecting the author responsible for correspondence)

At the time of uploading the article, there is an option to designate the author responsible for correspondence in the author profile section. Any of the authors can upload the article, but they must select the desired author on the page corresponding to the author's profile. After submitting the article, if any of the authors do not have a cartable in the system, an ID and password will be sent to them by email.

Once the article has been submitted, the whole process of the file can only be seen and followed from the author's page in the folder of the author responsible for the correspondence, and other authors will not be able to access and follow it. Therefore, be careful when choosing the author of the correspondence.

Initial review:

After submission, the article will be sent to the Editor-in-Chief of the journal for initial review. It is the responsibility of the author to edit the article according to the format available on the website and to carefully read the "Author's Guide" page in order to correct any problems, as it is not possible to provide a point-by-point list of the items requested by the reviewer for all submitted articles.

Very important points

After correcting the article (first editing stage) and adding the reviewers' comments (author editing stage), when you upload the original file, be sure to delete the old file and upload the new file again. The system allows only one article of the main article file type to be submitted.

The suffix R1 inserted after the interception code means the response of the final reviewer of the first stage (the first stage of the article's revision) and the suffix R2 means the response of the final reviewer of the second stage (the second stage of the article's revision).

Example: Jpq-123466-10002(R1)

No file outside the system has any use or validity, so please refrain from sending the article at the first stage of review and also from correcting the referees' responses to the journal's email.

How to follow up the article: After one and a half months have passed since the expert's approval and initial acceptance of the article, if the article is in {under review} status and no response has been received, send a follow-up email to the expert:
