Abstract

Sovereign Wealth Funds in the Arab Gulf countries serve as financial instruments to manage revenues from natural resources, particularly oil, and to address the challenges arising from globalization. Although these funds are often created for economic purposes, the intertwining of economics and politics has led the GCC countries to achieve political gains from the funds. This article aims to create a more accurate understanding of the performance of Sovereign Wealth Funds in the Arab Gulf countries and the patterns associated with it. In this regard, by raising the question of how these funds have been able to represent the political economy of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries at the global level, using the method of examining the performance and statistical data related to the mutual relationship of the funds with the economies of these countries, it believes that national wealth funds in these countries have created a political function by using an economic tool; As they have created complex interdependencies between investing countries and the companies in which they invest, breaking this link has become costly for each. With their policies in this area, these countries have tied their economies to the global political economy, and in addition to material benefits, have also sought to enhance national and regional security and gain international credibility through this approach.
