After the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917, he three Transcaucasian republics (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia) were emerged.But because of the great powers' rivalry in Transcaucasia, withholding of recognition of the republics by the Allies in Paris Peace conference (1919), and the continuous conflicts between the republics themselves, the Soviet Union easily defeated the republics and annexed them to the Russian territory. But today, the economic and geopolitical importance of Transcaucasia and the rivalry between Russia and the West, help the republics of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia to protect their independence.
